Travel Information

An excellent source of information on travelling to Singapore can be found at the "Your Singapore" site maintained by the Singapore Tourism Board.

Visas and Customs

Most visitors coming into Singapore do not require a visa for entry and may be given social visit passes. It is best, however, to check with your local consular office. Information about visas and customs can be found on the Singapore Tourism Board site here.

Weather

Singapore is generally hot and humid all year round. November is the start of the rainy season, so it may be slightly cooler (1-2 degrees cooler than average), and wetter than other times of year. The average daytime temperature is 31ºC (88ºF), dropping to around 24ºC (75ºF) in the evenings. See here for more details.

Currency

Singapore currency is the Singapore dollar (S$). There are many money changers across the country, and most international ATM cards and credit cards can be used.

Travel within Singapore

Singapore has a very efficient public transport service, with trains (called "MRT") and buses covering most of the island. Taxis are also reliable and reasonably priced.

Getting from the airport to your hotel

The airport has a range of transport options, including MRT, bus and taxi. Details can be found here. The airport is about a 20 minute drive from the conference hotels.
